08:37 am - Dun Worry
Meme I've been seeing. Given yesterday's complete and utter fail, this looked like a good thing to do.

Rules: post 10 things that recently made you happy.

1.) Despite not reaching my weekly word count goal (largely because I didn't start writing last week until Thursday), the writing this past week made me all the happy. Because those 2523 words were 2523 more words than I've written in months.

2.) Cooler weather. It is finally possible to walk somewhere and not get there a sweaty ball of snark. There's even been a sweatshirt or two donned.

3.) Fantastic prose. Mainly that of Jhumpa Lahiri, whose The Namesake I finally picked up the other day. She has said in interviews that she finds writing extremely difficult. It sure doesn't show. Her prose is effortless. Her sentences read like they've always existed.

4.) Fall Break. Which is technically over, but since I'm on a Tuesday/Thursday schedule this semester, I'm still basking in the glorious time off.

5.) A thoroughly straightened up apartment. I cleaned out all of those places in the apartment where I'd been tossing things I didn't know what to do with. So both of the closets and that cabinet in the desk are now neat and tidy, and I can actually open their doors without risking death.

6.) Unexpected gifts from the Ents, namely a copy of Watching Baseball Smarter: A Professional Fan's Guide for Beginners, Semi-experts, and Deeply Serious Geeks. I probably fall somewhere in between the first two categories (not a beginner surely--would you like to see my baseball card collection from the late 80s? but not any sort of an expert) and am definitely aligned with the last.

7.) Snap-shots of things like Graduation Weekend at college and English MAs playing softball.

8.) The cat perching on top of the bookcase. As you do.

9.) Unexpected phone calls from Sheff.

10.) The news that Ian McKellen very much wants to reprise his role as Gandalf should a film of The Hobbit be made. That the news is coupled with the speculation that Peter Jackson would not be involved in such a project dampers the happy a bit. But "despair is only for those who see the end beyond all doubt" and all that.

11:15 am - Taking a Page from Sheffie's Book.
And never giving it back. Muuuhahahaha.

The theory is that if I'm accountable for it, I might actually do it. And posting it to IJ makes me accountable. Sure it does. That's the theory.

Today

Household and Things.
--Roll coins as piggy bank is overflowing. (YES.)
--Take out the trash. (Why does this always have to be such an ordeal? Just do it.)
--Vacuum.
--Go to PO.
--Do something about bedroom closet before it falls on you and you die.
--Go to the pool.
--Do laundry. Need underwears.

School and "Work."
--Finish AT LEAST ONE of the four comps books in progress.
--Write 1700 words.

Before Saturday is out.
--Finish another comps book.
--Write 5000 words total. Heh. Final count for the week: 2523. For this week, I'll take it.
--Go to bank.
--Put photos in album or similar before they rise up and eat your face.
--Write to Gram.

09:34 pm - But really, who isn't a little whimsical in the brainpan?
I just spent three hours uploading icons. *headkeyboard*

Ensuing convo:

Gar: You know when we got off the phone? Since that time I have been trolling the internet for icons and uploading them to IJ.
Sheff: HEHEHE
Sheff: Do you have Firefly icons now?
Gar: I does.
Sheff: hot
Sheff: YOU HAS FFXII ICONS
Sheff: Also a bunch of HP icons. Pervert.
Gar: Am very innocent, completely normal old lady. All the clean here.
Sheff: Mal in a bonnet. Ain't nothing clean about that.
Gar: Heeeeeeeee! No. Ain't nothing clean about Mal ever.
Sheff: ROBIN HOOD, YOU SAY?
Gar: YES.
Sheff: MASH icons? You an oldskool pervert.
Gar: Proving that it doesn't have to be scifintasy to be pervy--one khaki ensemble at a time.

10:36 am - It's an IJ.
Because of Livejournal's recent and ongoing wankery, I've set up this here Insanejournal as a potential alternate home base. I'm still sort of psychologically attached to my LJ, so for now the IJ will serve basically as a mirror of what goes on at the LJ. I'll be putting my old fic in the memories here, and any new fic I write will (for now) be posted on both my LJ and my IJ.

Tweak makes my head hurt.

That is all.
